The event, scheduled for 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17, will recognize Dennis Payne and Kevin Hamilton for their exceptional contributions to the industry.

Dennis Payne, the director of merchandising produce/floral at The Fresh Market, has been awarded the 2025 Produce Retailer of the Year for his exceptional leadership and dedication. With over 45 years of experience in grocery retail, Payne began his journey at just 12 years old, working in produce and meats at a local grocery store.
As a key player at The Fresh Market in Greensboro, N.C., Payne is credited with boosting revenue and enhancing customer experiences through innovative merchandising and strategic sourcing. His operational excellence is complemented by a strong focus on developing talent within the industry while maintaining a positive leadership style.
Payne’s distinguished career includes shaping category management strategies, negotiating with a global network of suppliers, and mentoring teams across various functions. His roles have spanned major retailers, including Winn-Dixie/SaveRite, where he consistently exceeded performance benchmarks.
In addition to his professional achievements, Payne’s service in the U.S. Army Reserves instilled a sense of discipline and commitment that has shaped his career. He remains actively involved with both the International Fresh Produce Association (IFPA) and the Southeast Produce Council (SEPC), continuing to advocate for advancements in fresh produce retail.
Celebrating the 2025 Produce Marketer of the Year – Kevin Hamilton
Kevin Hamilton, vice president of global marketing and communications at the U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council, has been recognized as the 2025 Produce Marketer of the Year for launching the impactful “Go Big” campaign for blueberries. With two decades in marketing, Hamilton has a proven track record in elevating iconic food and beverage brands.
At the USHBC, Hamilton employs innovative strategies and creative excellence to drive demand for blueberries worldwide. His extensive expertise spans category marketing, digital engagement, media strategy, and global market development, all aimed at making blueberries a staple choice for consumers.
Before his role in the blueberry industry, Hamilton significantly contributed to Avocados From Mexico (AFM), where he directed one of the most successful marketing campaigns in the produce sector, including a historic Super Bowl commercial. His journey in marketing began at Procter & Gamble and includes roles at Clorox and The Coca-Cola Company, blending analytical insight with creative vision throughout his career.
Hamilton holds an MBA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas McCombs School of Business, underscoring his commitment to excellence in marketing.
