Weekly Cattle Market Report: Dubbo Saleyards
Market Overview
Total Yarding: 6845
Change: -145
The Dubbo Saleyards witnessed a diverse assembly of cattle this week, reporting a total yarding of 6845 head. Buyers found a solid selection of quality cattle across all categories, with significant numbers of prime ready cattle on display. Notably, additional consignments of weaners in store condition arrived from the far western regions. Despite the strong offerings, some regular buyers, particularly feeder buyers and processor operators, were notably absent from a marketplace that demonstrated a generally cheaper trend.

Young cattle directed to processors experienced a decline of 12 cents per kilogram, with prime vealers and yearlings fetching between 380c to 475c/kg. Heavyweight feeder steers showed relative stability, while most feeders faced price reductions of 5 to 10 cents per kilogram. Specifically, feeder steers ranged from 369c to 497c, and feeder heifers ranged from 380c to 457c/kg.
Young cattle intended for restockers and backgrounders went down by as much as 40 cents, with young steers going to 526c and young restocker heifers reaching 442c/kg.

The cow market presented a decline of 3 to 9 cents; specifically, 3-score cows sold from 314c to 368c/kg, and prime heavyweight cows averaged at 386c/kg, selling from 370c to 400c/kg. Conclusion
This week’s report highlights the fluctuation in cattle prices amid a good-quality yarding in Dubbo. While the market exhibited some weaknesses, especially with the absence of key buyer groups, opportunities remain for resellers and backgrounders to capitalize on varying price ranges.
