ChalkStream Foods Honored as SME Food and Drink Manufacturer of the Year
Hampshire’s Own ChalkStream Foods has received the prestigious title of the UK’s SME Food and Drink Manufacturer of the Year at the inaugural MP’s Choice Awards hosted by the Food and Drink Federation (FDF). The nomination came courtesy of local MP Caroline Nokes, representing Romsey and Southampton North.
A Momentous Achievement
Emerging victorious from a competitive field, ChalkStream Foods was recognized during a ceremony held at the Houses of Parliament. The company’s commitment to revitalizing British trout farming and enhancing the culinary landscape made a significant impression on the judging panel.
Championing Sustainability
The judges were particularly impressed with ChalkStream’s dedication to restoring and sustaining the iconic Itchen and Test Rivers. Known for their exquisite chalk streams, ChalkStream has played a pivotal role in advocating for the expansion of Wild Fisheries Protection Zones, transforming 90% of the Upper Itchen River into a wild fishing area.
Beyond sustainability, ChalkStream has made a concerted effort to rejuvenate traditional farming practices, working closely with local suppliers to promote long-standing farming families across four dedicated trout farms.
Recognizing Excellence in the Industry
The MP’s Choice: Food and Drink Manufacturer of the Year Awards aim to spotlight the vital contributions made by small and medium-sized manufacturers in the UK.
