Mark Hix and Mitch Tonks Reunite for Culinary Adventure in Portugal’s Douro Valley
Mark Hix and Mitch Tonks will join forces for an unforgettable two-day food and wine experience at Quinta de La Rosa. This exciting event is set to take place from November 6th to 8th, following two successful years of collaboration.
Meet the Chefs
Mitch Tonks stands out in the UK culinary scene as a respected authority on seafood and sustainability. He is well-known for founding The Seahorse and the Rockfish restaurant group throughout the South West. On the other hand, Mark Hix is celebrated as one of Britain’s leading restaurateurs and food writers, recognized for his advocacy of seasonal British ingredients and his influential role in London’s dining landscape. Together, their shared values of provenance, simplicity, and authenticity underscore this upcoming event.
A Journey Through Vineyards and Flavors
The event takes place at the picturesque family-run winery of sixth-generation port producer and winemaker, Sophia Bergqvist. Hix and Tonks first visited this beautiful estate over fifteen years ago. A long, leisurely lunch overlooking the river spurred the creation of their own wine, Tonnix, adorned with a label crafted by their friend and artist, Tracey Emin. This wine continues to be produced and enjoyed today, making their return to La Rosa an exciting opportunity for guests to immerse themselves in the origins of this unique collaboration.
