Gatik AI and Kroger Launch Innovative Autonomous Delivery Partnership
In a groundbreaking development in the retail logistics sector, Gatik AI and The Kroger Co. have announced a multi-year commercial collaboration aimed at revolutionizing supply chain efficiencies. This partnership involves medium-duty autonomous box trucks delivering fresh products directly from Kroger’s customer fulfillment center in Dallas, Texas, to multiple store locations.

To celebrate the significant progress made since local operations began earlier this year, Gatik and Kroger hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony. This event featured city and state officials, alongside representatives from Texas’ departments of transportation and public safety.
Over the past eight months, Gatik has successfully executed daily deliveries, operating seven days a week, across Kroger’s Dallas distribution network. These operations have significantly enhanced the speed, responsiveness, and frequency of the grocer’s e-commerce order fulfillment.
Enhancing the Customer Experience
“Kroger is committed to creating a seamless shopping experience for our customers—whether that’s through home delivery, store pick-up, or shopping in stores,” explained Ben Hamilton, VP of logistics and engineering network strategy at Kroger. “Our collaboration with Gatik allows us to continue and enhance that experience.”
Hamilton emphasized the dual focus on punctuality and customer service, stating, “While it’s essential to deliver on time, our collaboration highlights that providing excellent customer service is equally crucial. With Gatik’s autonomous box trucks, we can expedite our deliveries and improve our customer service, resulting in more satisfied and loyal customers.”
Government Support Fuels Innovation
The backing from city and state government officials has played a vital role in facilitating this partnership. Both companies highlight this support as a testament to Texas’ commitment to nurturing technological innovation and ensuring economic growth.
“Texas is central to Gatik’s commercial growth strategy, and we’re pleased to see the tangible benefits of our autonomous trucking solution realized through our partnership with Kroger,” asserted Gatik’s CEO and co-founder, Gautam Narang.
Future Goals
Looking ahead, Gatik is on track to scale its freight-only operations, aiming to deploy its autonomous trucks without onboard personnel by 2025.
