Holland America Line Celebrates Alaska’s Sustainability at Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
Holland America Line, the renowned cruise ship company based in Seattle, Washington, recently concluded its thriving 2025 Alaska cruise season. Throughout the season, the company successfully completed 117 voyages and proudly served an impressive 125,000 pounds of certified sustainable Alaska seafood, as shared in a company press release.
Showcasing Alaska’s Rich Seafood Heritage
This commitment to sustainability will be prominently featured during the upcoming Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, set to take place in New York City on Thursday, November 27. Holland America Line aims to highlight the beauty and bounty of Alaska, showcasing its dedication to using only certified sustainable seafood.
Global Fresh Fish Program
With its Global Fresh Fish Program, Holland America ensures a “port-to-plate” experience by sourcing fresh fish in less than 48 hours. The cruise line made history in 2022 by becoming the first to achieve certification for sustainable Alaska seafood from Certified Seafood International, which was formerly known as Responsible Fisheries Management. Furthermore, the company secured global sustainability certification from the Marine Stewardship Council and the Aquaculture Stewardship Council.
A Unique Opportunity to Promote Alaska
Julie Sande, commissioner from the Alaska Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration. “The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is an incredible opportunity to share the splendors of Alaska with the rest of the country,” she stated. “Holland America Line’s float captures the beauty of our state in a way that’s uniquely Alaskan. It’s a joy to know that people across the country will get a glimpse of what makes Alaska so special.”
