Maersk Expands Operations with New Ground Freight Facility in Fontana
In a significant boost to its trucking and distribution capabilities in Southern California, Maersk has unveiled a new ground freight facility in Fontana. This latest addition, spanning 165,000 square feet, is strategically located in the Inland Empire, a region known for its logistics advantages.
Enhancing Freight Efficiency
The new hub is engineered to streamline regional freight processes and offer customers enhanced reliability for transporting goods in and out of the area. Maersk has highlighted that the central location and direct access to primary transportation corridors can reduce turnaround times by as much as five hours.
24/7 Operations and Key Features
The Fontana facility operates around the clock, equipped with 22 dock doors and a fleet of 18 trucks. Its proximity to major highways, including Interstates 10 and 15, and close vicinity to Ontario International Airport facilitates efficient movements for both regional and interstate freight. Additionally, the site is well-positioned to connect with regional rail services, enhancing its logistical capabilities.
Integration with Logistics Campus
This new site directly integrates with Maersk’s larger contract logistics campus in the Inland Empire, providing customers with expanded access to warehousing and distribution services as demand continues to rise. The Fontana hub adds to Maersk’s existing ground locations across California, which include facilities in Sacramento, San Francisco, San Diego, and Los Angeles.
