Nomad Foods-owned Findus Italy Achieves 100% Certification for Seafood Sustainability
Findus Italy, a leading frozen food brand under Nomad Foods, has reached a significant milestone by achieving 100% certification for its seafood range under the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) and the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC). This accomplishment reflects the company’s unwavering commitment to responsible sourcing and environmental stewardship.
The comprehensive certification ensures that every seafood product offered by Findus Italia is sourced sustainably, marking a substantial expansion in the brand’s sustainability strategy. The journey began in 2018 with the introduction of its first ASC-certified product, and has now culminated in all seafood offerings meeting stringent certification standards.
Findus Italia’s dedication to sustainability is evident in its continuous efforts to increase the volume of certified products. The brand has experienced a notable 32% growth in the number of ASC-labelled offerings between 2023 and 2024, showcasing its commitment to driving positive change in the industry.
Recently, Findus Italia was honored with the ‘Voted Product of the Year 2025’ award in the Frozen Fish category of the ASC awards for its line, Tentazioni di Gusto. This lineup features a variety of ASC-labelled seafood products, including breaded prawns with parsley and lemon, shrimp au gratin with courgettes and thyme, and mussels au gratin with potatoes and tomatoes.
Desiree Pesci, market development manager of ASC Italy, commended Findus for its leadership in sustainability, stating, “Findus’ dedication to responsible practices sets a powerful example for the industry. Their commitment to driving higher environmental and social responsibility standards is commendable.”
Looking towards the future, Findus remains steadfast in its collaboration with the ASC and MSC to ensure that all raw materials are sourced from certified fisheries and farms. Additionally, the company is working closely with various NGOs in Italy to promote environmental restoration and sustainability initiatives.
