Innovative Leadership: Dr. Steven Guan Joins NOVUS as Microbiology and Fermentation Manager
NOVUS is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Steven (Shaohua) Guan as the new manager of microbiology, molecular biology, and fermentation lead. This strategic move aims to enhance the company’s efforts in delivering innovative products designed to maximize animal production and welfare.
Building Expertise in Microbiology and Fermentation
In his new position, Dr. Guan will focus on expanding NOVUS’s capabilities in microbiology and fermentation. His responsibilities include designing, executing, and interpreting research across microbiology, molecular biology, and biochemistry, particularly concerning enzymes, direct-fed microbials (DFMs), and other fermentation-derived products. This research will be conducted at the company’s global headquarters in Missouri and in collaboration with external vendors.

A Wealth of Experience
Dr. Guan brings more than 20 years of extensive experience in fermentation process development to NOVUS. His outstanding career includes significant roles, such as principal scientist at Dalan Animal Health and senior scientist at Kemin Industries, as well as director of bioprocessing R&D at Agricen Sciences. He has developed expertise in optimizing fermentation media and processes for a variety of microorganisms, including bacteria, yeasts, and filamentous fungi, across food, feed, pharmaceutical, and agricultural sectors.
