Innovation that Protects: Garware’s Groundbreaking Advances in Aquaculture Nets
Garware Technical Fibres is leading the way in revolutionizing aquaculture through innovative net solutions specifically designed to tackle the unique demands of various farming operations. The company’s dedicated multidisciplinary team, composed of experts in materials, polymers, and technical fibres, continually strives to deliver high-tech products that enhance efficiency and safety in farming environments.
Tailored Solutions for Diverse Needs
“Recognizing that no two production strategies are alike, we pride ourselves on developing a diverse array of nets tailored to specific requirements,” says Francisco Serra, Commercial Manager of Garware Technical Fibres Chile. “Our offerings range from nets suitable for in-situ washing to options with antifouling coatings, recyclable designs, and even advanced nets equipped with communication and reporting technology.”
All Garware nets are designed with longevity and high manufacturing standards in mind, stemming from a commitment to actively listening to client needs. The company’s focus centers on reducing operational costs, minimizing risks, and enhancing overall production performance, leveraging both customer insights and applied scientific research.
Next-Generation Net Technologies
Among the notable innovations is the CFR net, which features a composite-core construction. This design ensures a uniform shape, enhanced strength, and reduced weight, making it both durable and efficient. The CFR offers exceptional cut resistance and high mesh rigidity for improved safety, with its eco-friendly version, S.CFR, being 100% recyclable.
For predator control, Garware has developed specialized nets aimed at thwarting sea lion attacks through a strategic combination of tensile strength, cut resistance, and net rigidity. “Our predator-control product line includes highly successful nets like SUC MBX and X18, primarily used for overhead protection designs and drop-down configurations respectively,” explains Marcos Jofré, Business Associate at Garware Technical Fibres Chile. “SUC MBX enjoys widespread adoption in the industry, attributed in part to its core made of stainless-steel strands.”
Enhanced Features for Evolving Aquaculture Needs
Garware’s Pro Max net takes the features of the X18 to a new level, providing greater rigidity and abrasion resistance. Similarly, Safemax—an evolution of SUC MBX—retains the same tensile strength but offers a smaller diameter without stainless-steel strands, enhancing cut resistance while delivering remarkable tensile strength.
Another significant advantage of Safemax is its increased rigidity, allowing it to perform well in traditional predator-control designs as well as vertical-drop or drop-down configurations. Furthermore, the ACE net incorporates all these attributes, tailored specifically for exposed sites, and its reduced diameter ensures minimal resistance to water currents.
The Importance of Sustainable Solutions
As the salmon farming industry continues to expand and confront more challenging environments, selecting efficient, safe, and sustainable materials has become essential. Garware’s commitment to innovation not only enhances productivity but also promotes environmental responsibility.
