Sarunas Stankevicius (SS): “It’s exactly as it sounds! We received quite a few questions during the product introduction, even from our own team. Yes, it’s real black ants.”

Understanding the Ingredients

AB: “Is the addition of ants a culinary tradition somewhere?”

SS: “It’s eye-catching and attracts interest. In recent years, there have been many startups experimenting with insect-based products, which are high in protein and packed with nutrients. Interestingly, ants contain natural acids, providing a tangy flavor that complements salmon, much like lemon does. The texture is a bit crunchy, adding an unexpected element.”

Market Potential and Future Plans

AB: “Will this product be available for tasting here?”

SS: “While we’re providing tastings at the expo, we aren’t offering samples to take home just yet. Our mission is to ensure everyone enjoys quality food.”

AB: “What markets are you targeting?”

SS: “Currently, this is a novelty for us. We haven’t started production yet, as we are in the process of building a new factory that will open later this year. Full-scale production will follow next year, primarily targeting developed markets like Spain and Germany. The potential for the U.S. market also exists.”
