BIO-UV Group Marks 25 Years of Innovation in Water Treatment
Celebrating a Milestone Achievement
The BIO-UV Group, a prominent leader in the field of water treatment and disinfection systems, proudly commemorates its 25th anniversary this year. This milestone reflects a legacy of innovation and remarkable growth since its establishment.
Foundation and Leadership
Founded in 2000, the company is currently overseen by CEO Laurent-Emmanuel Migeon. Since its inception, BIO-UV Group has emerged as a trailblazer in advanced water treatment solutions utilizing ultraviolet (UV) light, ozone, salt electrolysis, and advanced oxidation processes (AOP).
Financial Highlights
In 2024, BIO-UV Group reported a revenue of €39.6 million, with over half of this revenue derived from international markets. Headquartered in France, the company operates in more than 70 countries and employs a dedicated workforce of over 160 individuals.
Commitment to Innovation
“BIO-UV Group’s 25 years stand as a testament to our dedication and know-how in water treatment,” stated Laurent-Emmanuel Migeon. “We have evolved, innovated, and expanded internationally to become a reference point across the industry. We are ready to meet tomorrow’s challenges and support our clients with sustainable and efficient water management solutions.”
Growth and Expansion Strategies
Since its beginnings, the company has seen steady growth, facilitated by a successful acquisition strategy. Going public on Euronext Growth in 2018 allowed the company to raise an initial €10 million, with two additional capital increases occurring in 2020 and 2025.
Strategic acquisitions have played a vital role in expanding its technological portfolio and global reach. Notably, in 2019, the company acquired triogen®, a subsidiary of Suez specializing in ozone and UV solutions, and in 2021, it secured Corelec, a French leader in saltwater chlorination.
Operational Divisions and Market Reach
BIO-UV Group is organized into three primary divisions: Product Sales, Solution Sales, and Services & Aftermarket. This structure enables the group to cater to a diverse customer base that ranges from residential and commercial swimming pools to municipal and industrial water treatment systems, aquaculture, and ballast water management.
Milestones and Recent Developments
Innovation remains at the heart of BIO-UV Group’s initiatives. Landmark achievements include receiving approval from the French Ministry of Health in 2004 for dechloramination in public pools, becoming the first and only French manufacturer certified by the International Maritime Organisation for ballast water treatment in 2013, and the rapid launch of BIO-SCAN, a UV-C surface treatment system, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
Recent product launches, such as the O’CLEAR® residential pool solution, the PPO3 ozone generator, and the modular CUBIQ system for wastewater reuse, underscore the group’s commitment to pioneering sustainable water treatment technologies.
Manufacturing and Sustainability Initiatives
BIO-UV Group designs and manufactures its solutions in France and Scotland, utilizing facilities in Lunel, Muret, and Glasgow. The company recently completed a €2.2 million expansion at its Lunel headquarters, enhancing production capacity and reinforcing its status as an innovation hub.
Additionally, the group emphasizes corporate social responsibility, earning ISO 26000 certification in 2024. Its strategy includes reducing its carbon footprint by 5% annually through initiatives such as solar panel installations and partnerships with organizations committed to sustainability.
Looking Ahead
As the BIO-UV Group moves forward, it seeks to strengthen key partnerships, including an exclusive agreement with Pinnacle Ozone Solutions to penetrate new markets in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, and collaboration with Innovasea to expand in North America’s aquaculture sector.
“As we celebrate this milestone, I am deeply grateful to our dedicated employees, partners, and customers who have made our success possible. We are determined to continue innovating, expanding, and leading the way in sustainable water treatment solutions that address the world’s most pressing water challenges,” said Migeon.
Global Impact
With over 3,000 drinking water and wastewater systems, 800 vessels equipped with BIO-SEA® ballast water treatment, 6,000 public pools, and more than 200,000 residential pools and spas utilizing BIO-UV Group solutions, the company is at the forefront of the water treatment industry—treating an impressive 717 million m³ of water in 2024 alone.
