1. Removing Overly Prescriptive Requirements

• Elimination of stringent labelling requirements for fresh fruits and vegetables.
• Reduction in traceability labelling requirements for hatching eggs and chicks to align with industry practices.
• Abolition of mandatory grading requirements for produce intended for further processing, manufacturing, or preserving.

2. Increasing Flexibility and Efficiency

• Updated import requirements to provide veal producers with more flexibility in optimizing product value.
• Management of grade standards for certain fresh fruits and vegetables now lies with the Fruit and Vegetable Dispute Resolution Corporation, allowing for quicker adjustments to meet industry needs.
• Streamlined processes for updating animal import rules in alignment with international standards or emerging scientific findings.

3. Leveling the Playing Field

• Introduction of new testing requirements for importing hatching eggs from the U.S. to a licensed Canadian hatchery, establishing parity with domestic regulations related to Salmonella Enteritidis.
