Optimar Secures NOK 70M Contracts for Innovative Salmon Project
Optimar has entered into a significant partnership with the Icelandic seafood giant Samherji to deliver advanced technologies for its land-based salmon farming initiative, Salmon Garden. This collaboration is marked by three contracts worth NOK 70 million, aimed at enhancing operational efficiency in aquaculture.
A Comprehensive Approach to Aquaculture
The agreements will see Optimar providing essential systems including:
- A fully automated washing system for tanks and infrastructure.
- An ensilage solution dedicated to the handling of deceased fish.
- A complete slaughter line to streamline processing.
These innovations underscore Optimar’s pivotal role as a systems integrator within the aquaculture sector.
Sustainable Production Goals
Salmon Garden is projected to achieve an impressive annual production capacity of up to 40,000 tonnes of salmon, representing a major investment in sustainable, land-based aquaculture in Iceland.
Integration of Systems for Enhanced Efficiency
The automated washing system is tailored to ensure efficient cleaning processes while minimizing manual labor, thereby adhering to high biosecurity standards. Furthermore, the ensilage system will facilitate safe and compliant handling of dead fish, essential for maintaining operational hygiene.
Additionally, the full stun and bleed system will optimize the slaughtering process, providing Samherji with a singular supplier and point of contact across both farming and processing operations.
Commitment to Long-Term Collaboration
Espen Rørvik, Sales Manager at Optimar, expressed enthusiasm about the contracts, stating, “These agreements highlight our extensive capabilities within aquaculture. We take pride in providing integrated solutions that address various critical components of the value chain.”
Magne Bjørge, also from Optimar, emphasized the project’s potential, declaring, “This is just the beginning. The scale of this initiative is vast, and we look forward to continuing our close collaboration with Samherji for the foreseeable future.”
