Poultry Science Association Announces Key Staffing Developments

The updates introduce a new Conference Program Coordinator and promote three esteemed team members to more prominent leadership positions.

Maggie Kraft: The New Face of Conference Coordination

In an exciting addition, PSA welcomes Maggie Kraft as the newly appointed Conference Program Coordinator. Kraft will play a crucial role in planning and executing PSA’s scientific conferences, overseeing the development of symposia and abstract review processes, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional scientific programming.

A native of Bloomington, Illinois, Kraft recently earned a degree in Interpersonal Communication from Illinois State University. She brings a solid academic foundation along with hands-on experience in managing systems and tools integral to conference operations.

• David Busboom has been elevated to Senior Managing Editor. With nearly ten years at PSA, Busboom has been pivotal in the growth of the journal Poultry Science, tripling manuscript submissions in the last three years. Under his stewardship, the time to first decision has also been halved, greatly enhancing the author experience.
• Rebecca Smith is the new Senior Manager of Conferences and Events. Smith has spearheaded a growing portfolio of scientific meetings—including the Annual Meeting and the newly launched Pacific Rim Scientific Conference—ensuring resilient registration numbers and enhanced member engagement.
• Sydney Carr has ascended to the role of Director of Operations. Carr joined PSA as part of a succession plan and has taken on significant responsibilities in business operations and human resources. She will continue to work with outgoing Operations Director Jon Cole to document vital institutional knowledge.
